The Fax Service on all of the newer versions of Windows is a neat tool to quickly and easily send any document over a fax line. Let's say you have a 30 page Acrobat Reader document that you need to fax to a client in Atlanta. The normal procedure would be to print it out then put the 30 pages in the fax machine, dial the number and click send. That is inefficient and a waste of 30 pages of paper. If your computer has a modem built in then all you need is a phone line plugged in. From this point the fax is just treated like any other printer device. To fax click file and print and in your printer selections select fax. A box will come up telling you this is the fax service click next, at that stage you have a few choices. You can type in a client name then tab twice and enter in the phone #, just type in phone number including area code in the box, 1 if out of local dialing area. You also have a second choice of entering into the address book or pulling up an address book and getting the fax #. The next page will ask if you want to enter in a cover page and gives you some choice of types. If you select a cover page and have never entered in your name, address and phone number you will be givin that choice to do so. When you click next there will be 1 final option to send now or later. If your long distance is more expensive during the day and the fax is not as critical then you can select to send at a later time. The fax program will attempt 3 resends if the lines are busy. This fax routine can be a considerable time and money saver over the long haul.  Once you have all your clients in your address book then the job gets easier.
